January 23 Cowlitz Fish Report

Last week Tacoma Power employees recovered 247 coho adults, 11 jacks, three winter-run steelhead adults and one cutthroat trout in four days of operation at the Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery separator.

During the past week Tacoma Power employees released 58 coho adults into Lake Scanewa located above Cowlitz Falls Dam and they released 106 coho adults and two jacks at Franklin Bridge in Packwood.

Last week, Tacoma employees released 67 coho adults, nine coho jacks, two winter-run steelhead adults and one cutthroat trout into the Tilton River located at Gust Backstrom Park in Morton.

River flows at Mayfield Dam are approximately 6,910 cubic feet per second on Monday, January 23rd. Visibility is at 5 feet and the water temperature is 42.1 degrees F. River flows could change at any time so boaters and anglers should remain alert for this possibility.

NOTE: The "Total Returns" are the total number of adults that returned back to the hatchery. The "Upstream Transportation" numbers are ONLY adults that were taken Upstream to those locations.
